AVA Announces Pioneering Hendra Vaccine that will Break Transmission of the Hendra Virus

The Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) and Australian Veterinary Associations (AVA) along with drug major Pfizer discovered an equine Hendra vaccine which killed a hundred or more horses in Australia in the past few years. The Hendra disease was discovered in Brisbane in 1994 and since then, this dreaded disease has killed both humans and animals.

The discovery will break the transmission cycle from horses to humans and so, end the spreading of the disease. The bat-borne disease will now be quelled by the pioneering vaccine produced under the research and development of Australian Veterinary Association.

The high-risk areas in Australia, such as Queensland and NSW will be first targeted by the vets where all horses will be vaccinated.
